8 Businesses. 8 Challenges. 8 Big Ideas.

A Shark 13 November Blog Series

Padel is growing rapidly in Phuket. More clubs, more courts and more people discovering a sport that's fun, social and surprisingly addictive.

But with more clubs opening, how do you make yours stand out?

For our second Shark Attack of November, we're looking at Destination Padel in Thalang, Phuket.

We've come up with three marketing ideas. Two designed specifically to help Destination Padel attract more players and build its reputation, and a third that could bring the entire Phuket padel community together.

And none of them involve discounting court bookings.

Idea #1: Padel Is for Everyone

Take a look at most padel marketing Phuket and you'll see lots of young, attractive, athletic people wearing perfectly coordinated sports outfits.

They look fantastic.

But what about the rest of us?

The 60-year-old bloke with dodgy knees? The slightly overweight dad? The kid who's never picked up a racket? Or the person who just wants to have a laugh with friends?

Our first idea is a fun video campaign with one simple message.

PADEL IS FOR EVERYONE.

Picture four very different characters.

An older gentleman with strapped-up knees, an old-school headband and questionable shorts.

A glamorous young woman dressed head to toe in the latest padel fashion.

A kid bursting with energy.

And an ordinary bloke in a football shirt who looks like he's just popped down to the shops.

Now put them all on a padel court together.

Let them play. Let them laugh. Let them make mistakes. Let them celebrate the occasional brilliant shot.

Three or four short videos, each with a slightly different story, all delivering the same message.

You don't need to look like a professional athlete to enjoy padel.

Why would it work?

Because people need to see themselves in your marketing.

If someone thinks they're too old, too unfit or not sporty enough to play, this campaign could change their mind.

And that means introducing Destination Padel to a whole new audience.

Idea #2: Become Phuket's Go-To Padel Coaches

Here's something interesting about padel players.

Once they start playing, they generally want to get better.

And what do they do?

They watch videos.

How to serve. Where to stand. How to use the glass. How to defend. How to hit that perfect shot.

So why not make Destination Padel the club providing those answers?

Our second idea is a regular series of short coaching videos featuring the club's own coaches.

Nothing complicated.

Just 30 to 60 seconds answering one simple question.

"Three mistakes every beginner makes."

"Where should you stand when your partner serves?"

"How to defend against a lob."

"Stop making this mistake with the glass."

You get the idea.

Why would it work?

Because instead of constantly telling people how good your club is, you're showing them how knowledgeable your coaches are.

Players watch. They learn. They share the videos with their friends.

And when they decide they want a proper coaching session, whose name do they remember?

Destination Padel.

That's the beauty of useful content. You're marketing your business without constantly trying to sell something.

Idea #3: The Phuket Padel League

Now this idea is a little different.

It's not just for Destination Padel. It's something that could benefit every padel club in Phuket.

The Phuket Padel League.

A fun, monthly interclub competition for everyday players.

Not professionals. Not coaches. Just regular people who love playing padel.

Each club puts forward a men's doubles team, a women's doubles team and a mixed doubles team.

Once a month, clubs compete against each other.

Depending on how many clubs get involved, we could split Phuket into regions, with teams competing for a place in an island-wide final.

Imagine the possibilities.

Club rivalries. Team announcements. Match highlights. League tables. Player interviews. A season-ending championship.

And most importantly, a stronger padel community across Phuket.

Why would it work?

Because people love being part of something.

It's no longer just about booking a court for an hour.

It's about representing your club, meeting new players and enjoying some friendly competition.

The Phuket Padel League is still an idea we're developing, but we think it could have real potential if clubs across the island got involved.

So What's the Marketing Lesson?

Three ideas. Three different approaches.

The first attracts new players by showing that padel is for everyone.

The second builds trust and authority by helping existing players improve.

And the third builds a community that gives people more reasons to keep playing.

None of these ideas requires a massive advertising budget.

They require creativity, consistency and a willingness to do something different.

And that's exactly what this November Shark Attack series is about.

We're not saying Destination Padel is doing anything wrong. Far from it. It's a great little club in Thalang, and these are simply ideas we think could help take its marketing in a different direction.

Sometimes all it takes is looking at a business from a slightly different angle.

And if that 60-year-old bloke with the strapped-up knees becomes the next Phuket padel social media sensation, remember where you heard the idea first.

Shark 13 Marketing. Stop Planning. Start Doing.

About The Shark Attack

8 Businesses. 8 Challenges. 8 Big Ideas.

Throughout November, Shark 13 Marketing is taking a look at eight Phuket businesses and sharing creative marketing concepts that could help them attract more customers, stand out from the competition and grow.

These aren't full marketing strategies or detailed proposals. They're simply ideas designed to get people thinking differently about how they promote their businesses.

Because sometimes one good idea is all it takes.

Next up: Another Phuket business. Another Shark Attack.
